Tata Motors, India’s leading vehicle manufacturer has bagged the deal to be the sole vehicle supplier for the commonwealth games. The 2010 Commonwealth Games are scheduled to begin in October in New Delhi, India.
Total Requirement of Vehicles For the Commonwealth Games
There is a total requirement of 1800 vehicles for the 2010 commonwealth games. According to the Commonwealth Games Federation’s regulations the vehicles have been divided into T1 and T2 types. There are plans for 500 vehicles to be under T1 with GPS and other security measures. The T1 vehicles shall serve the VIPs. The T2 vehicles will be made available to the families of athletes and non-board members of the Commonwealth Games Federation.
Queens Baton Relay Preceding the Commonwealth Games
In addition to the 1800 vehicles for the Commonwealth Games Tata Motors will also supply Cars, Jeeps and Trucks for the traditional Queen’s Baton Relay. The Queen’s Baton Relay precedes the Commonwealth Games. It is scheduled to begin its Indian run from the 25th of June 2010.
